What He Did Right

The Speech Was Prepared Ahead of Time

This in itself makes an incredible difference. If you've ever listened to someone "wing it", then you know it's only successful if they're a seasoned and experienced speaker. If you're not a seasoned and experienced speaker, don't "wing it"!

Great Eye Contact

This Best Man knew the speech, only looking at it from time to time to remember where he was at. He also knew where the Groom and Bride were, so he could make eye contact with them at the correct timing in his speech.

Aware of Surroundings

He knew he didn't have a microphone, and projected his voice appropriately.

Not Too Funny, Not Too Serious

Of course, you can go completely serious. But it's never a good idea to only be funny. The absolute best approach…some of both.
