Practical Joke Gone Awry - Don't Do This

After you watch the video, you may be wondering… why not?

Here's Why Not

I've seen this joke done right, and it's can be absolutely hilarious! But to be successful, the joke must have:

The Right Audience

Here, the group of people returning keys were just perfect, and the audience laughed appropriately. Very well done in this regard.

A Bride And Groom With A GREAT Sense Of Humor

This Bride couldn't believe her ears or eyes and wasn't quite sure how to react.

It Must Be Followed By A Toast Or Speech With Sincerity

It's important to balance your speech because otherwise it looks like you're just trying to be mean. I'm quite certain this wasn't the intention, but wouldn't you have liked the sister to say something wonderful about the Bride? Something like this would have been appropriate and short:

"Ok, now that we've had a good laugh with Bride, you must know by now that she has a wonderful sense of humor. I can also tell you that she is sincere, thoughtful, ambitious, and clever. So clever in fact, we still aren't sure how the groom managed to keep his proposal a secret - as he had been planning it for well over 6 months!"

"Bride and Groom, the entire Jones family would like to officially welcome Groom into our family. We are happy you have found someone who is so lovable, honest, and best of all…has a great sense of humor. Congratulations you two!"
