Loading... Please wait...Um, Uh, and Ouh don't belong in a speech, but they have a way of sneaking in when you don't rehearse, or decide to just "wing it"…
Even though he keeps looking down, he's not glancing at a written speech…he's just nervous. Can you blame him? We all get nervous in front of a crowd - but even if he read straight from a written speech it would have been better than "winging it"!
Again, this is due to 1) nervousness, and 2) not rehearsing (but then, how could you rehearse if you didn't prepare ahead of time?)
Practice your speech - OUT LOUD. Of course you won't write them in, but they do slip out. Have your pre-wedding audience count them for you as you practice your speech on them. Guaranteed, if you're aware you use these words, you'll be better able to leave them out. And if you practice your speech out loud (instead of solely reading it for the sake of memorizing it), you will minimize the number of times you say those words.
