The Groom obviously had a speech prepared ahead of time, and I say that because he was prepared with all the right material. He thanked his parents (for making him the person he is today), he thanked her parents (for making her the person she is today…and for hosting the event) and he spoke volumes about his new wife, sang her praises and let her - and everyone else - know just how amazing she is.

And he used his body language appropriately. What I mean is, he gestured to the parents while speaking of them, and he looked directly at his bride while speaking of her. Not to mention, he made eye contact throughout.
Memorizing your speech is a bonus, but note that he did have a hand free (without a drink) that he could have held notecards if the speech was not memorized.
