Why Mother of the Bride Wedding Speeches Are Popular
Who said her father has to give the speech?
You've heard it before...
"A son's a son until he takes a wife,
A daughter's a daughter all her life"
True or not, moms have a deep connection with their little girl and they want a chance
to honor her accomplishments and congratulate her marriage. Why leave it to the men?
In some cases, with step-parents or divorced parents, a parents second marriage, etc - well,
mom is the one constant, the parent that has been there throughtout bride's life - she's
earned the right to say a few words!
So what's a mother of the bride to say? Everything a father does.
If you're sharing the spotlight with dad, though, don't repeat what he's already said.
Take more time to get emotional, talk about your
daughter and her never-going-to-give-in attitude, her vast accomplishments, or why you
think she's going to make a wonderful wife. Add in a little advice about marriage - as
only a mother can - and you'll have a speech ready in no time.
You'll have so much to say, the hardest part will be knowing when to stop!
